Buildings and Construction
In March, the preschoolers learned about all kinds of buildings and how they are made. They walked around the school grounds to see buildings made of brick and wood and stone and compared the size of a house, a church, a school, and a grocery store. The children made buildings out of paper and boxes. A construction worker came to show us the tools he uses. The children learned about cranes, bulldozers, and excavators and had fun playing with toy versions in the sandbox. We saw how a truck crane works too.
Night theme
In February, the preschool children learned about night time. We learned about nocturnal animals, about why our bodies need night to sleep and stay healthy. We had two visitors, a nurse and a police officer, who told the children about their work during the night hours. Pajama Day and bringing a favorite night time snuggly stuffed animal or blanket was fun. In the play area, tents, sleeping bags, and flashlights provided opportunity to pretend it was night.
Christmas Program
Palos Christian Preschool students presented the story of the Nativity at their Christmas program December 23. All the children were in costumes to show Mary, Joseph, innkeepers, angels, shepherds, sheep, cows, star holders, storytellers, and wise men. They sang many songs about the birth of Jesus. The program concluded with several favorite Christmas songs accompanied by jingle bells.
